How much can a marketing agency owner earn?
Let's say an average business pays you $2K every month for your marketing services. You help run ads on FB, Instagram, TikTok, etc.
You have 10 clients. So your revenue is 20k. It's hard for one person to run 20 projects a month. So, you need employees. You hire two freelancers and pay them $5K each. That leaves you with 10K.
There are different kinds of clients. If you do marketing for a big company, they may pay you 100K a month and more. It all depends on your digital marketing skills and finding big clients.
Scaling a marketing agency works like this. The more clients you have, the more employees you need to hire for the agency. You, as the owner of the marketing agency, make money on the difference between the client's payments and the salaries of the employees who do the projects.
Career growth options in digital marketing
In most cases, the growth of a career in digital marketing is designed so that in the beginning people work as specialists in the company (Digital marketing experts).
On the second stage of their development, they go to freelancing and open a marketing agency. Or they become a CMO (Chief marketing officer) and build a career in a large corporation, like Apple. At the third stage, they open their own business or startup.
We named this model "EAS". E-expert, A-agency, S-startup.
What benefits do digital marketers have?
Now let's move on to the benefits that digital marketers have over other professions. Yes, a digital marketer is a high-paying profession. But sometimes money isn't the most important thing in life.
Digital marketer is a high-paying job with career growth opportunities.
In the digital marketing industry you have many different career options and you can choose any of them that suits you.
The opportunity to work remotely
This is probably one of the biggest advantages of this profession. Unlike a doctor or a lawyer, a digital marketer can work remotely from anywhere in the world and work with different international corporations.
The Internet has made it possible for all people to have the same access to information and the same access to customers, no matter where you are or where you were born. It's sad to realize, but 20 years ago, NOT all people had equal opportunities. If people lived in developed countries, they had a better chance of making good money. If they were from less developed countries, they had no chance at all.
Today, when you are in poorer countries, you still can earn an "American salary" in dollars. It all depends on your desire and skills.
To become a doctor you need to spend decades on an expensive education. It takes you a few weeks to make your first money in digital marketing. Of course, you won't make good money right away, but basic marketing skills give you the opportunity to make extra money in a couple of weeks.
You can work as much as you want. I know people who work a couple of hours a day, live in Bali, and enjoy life. You don't have to work 10 hours a day. Someone is on parental leave and can work a few hours a day. You plan your own work hours. That doesn't mean you don't have to work at all :)
I'm just saying that you can plan your own work hours, as you like.
For example, at Apiway we don't have an office and everyone works remotely.
Digital marketing is very diverse. No project is the same. They all are unique and you have to come up with different creative campaigns. You are constantly expanding your horizons.
Interesting people and interesting places
Digital marketing is a creative-technical industry. You meet interesting people along the way who have a lot to learn from. You meet business owners, tech startups founders, investors, and programmers. You can work in a co-working space where there are always interesting people, interesting offline lectures, and events. It's always interesting and fun there.
Digital marketing is very diverse. There are creative areas where people with extraordinary thinking are needed. Somebody can come up with a super cool ad campaign and make a video. There are also technical areas where engineering thinking prevails. Also, there are directions related to the text, or to visual effects. People with different mindsets can find themselves in this industry. Someone is close to Facebook ads, someone is close to SMM, someone finds himself in SEO, someone makes websites, and someone becomes a technical specialist and configures a CRM.
Easy opportunity to find clients/work
In the world of social media, it's very easy to find clients if you have the right skills. In most cases, people find their first clients in a few weeks if they do it right. It's the same with finding a job. There are freelance websites where you have to create a profile and specify a list of skills, and companies will find you. Finding customers or a job today is easier than it was 20 years ago.
Let's be honest, there are two professions that are most in demand. They're marketers and programmers. If you want to be successful in the next 10 years, you need to choose one of these options. So, If you don't want to coding the best way to start your career is in digital marketing.
I don't know of a better option to start your career. Honestly.
The digital marketer has many benefits compared to other professions.
